Another thing, besides safe packing, to watch for when shipping disassembled suspension parts (or any machine parts) is corrosion! I made the mistake to clean all the parts (rods from a 43mm WP fork) in my parts washer using an aqueous -based solvent. While this is normaly no problem, residues of the solvent and the temperature extremes during shipping (airplane) caused massive corrosion on some of the parts!
A light coat of WD40 or suspension oil would have been the right preparation!
