I recently purchased a used 2001 220 and have been going through the factory manual - lubing bearings and stuff.

I was surprised to see that the shock oil was to be replaced and nitrogen recharged yearly.

Do you experienced guys really do this or is it maintenance overkill?

I have heard that the maintenance in the manual is over kill. However, I am interested to hear what others on this site have to say. I also recently purchased a 2002 KDX and now am performing the maintenance on it.

I recently talked to a local mechanic who told me the bladder will leak off the nitrogen in about a year so its best to recharge it once a year. Cost me $12 for the charge and I changed the oil myself.

You can also buy a shock pump and fill it with air, but some say not to do that, but I've heard others say it's ok, so who knows??
