Shorty Silencer

I just got a 1995 cr125 with a pro cuircuit platinum 2 pipe and want a little more low end. Will a pro curcuit shorty silencer give me a little bit more low end? Also, does a shorty take away from the top end?

i heard you can just chop off a bit of the silencer you have now to make a budget shorty.
