Hey guys...I used to ride an RM 125 that was race modified, got out of the sport and have since bought a Yamaha R6. I'm looking to get back into riding dirt, and was wondering if an 03' CR250 is a good choice. I was told that the RM250 is faster on bottom end this year, but CR is faster up top. I have found both for sale used...

2003 CR250 $3500
2003 RM250 $4200

The CR250 is in near mint condition and the RM250 has reasonable wear. Of course the price makes me want the $3500 but I like bottom end power. Is there a huge difference or just a small difference between the two bikes?

If it helps, I am 6'0", 165 lbs.

Thanks for any help guys.

Buy the CR and try it out. If you're unhappy with the power, take the $700 you saved and have the cylinder ported.

Im not sure about 250s, but I think when it comes to 250 2-strokes, the second best bike down low is the RM, but the CR will still have killer low end.

Why the hell not look for a CRF 4-stroke if you want sweet low end power?

Or better yet, a KX500! Cheap, reliable, low maintenance, and more power than you'll ever need. And as you're used to riding an R6, you'll REALLY like the power.

I have an 02 Cr250, and I felt it needed a little more low end to make up for my lack of talent, so I had the cylinder ported, the best thing about the bike is the handling and the quality of components used, I think the Honda makes a great used bike because they hold up well, My2cnts
