Good stuff Hal... :) You aren't bringing No' Mo again this year are you? But alas, the fair damsel will be back at the castle studying her nursing school books. I can leave the .40 at home! It's amazing that this will be the third year already... doesn't seem like that much time has gone by does it? Not sure we'll even try to make DW better than the previous, all we have to do is show-up to have a good time with this bunch. Yes, we'll improve some things (how about the rockin' moto school this year! :aj: ), but it'll always be pretty much the same. It aint broke. Spreading the events out over more days will make Saturday a little less hectic though LOL. Things I remember about the last one, in no particular order: 1) Thump calling me from his truck lost. He drove by the track 5 or 6 times. I stayed on the phone with him till he got parked. He was 3 days early :silly: . I said, "now don't setup right in front of that power box, that's where the land yacht goes. When my crew finally rolled-in, where was he parked? Yup. 2. Setting up that first night watching billy freak... "what is this falling from the sky?!" he yelled, running for cover. "That's RAIN billy, it won't hurt you" we explained to SoCal boy. Thump proceeds to ruin billy's tent as the two traded smack trying to get the little shelter put together. 3. The odd bike of Patman's and the fact that his dirtbike was broken, not allowing him to Put-Up after it was too late to Shut-Up. Team Illinois 5, Team Tejas 0. 3. The BIG surprise? Gomer shows up with full crew in tow!! The guy had been injured earlier in the year and was sure he wasn't going to be able to make it. For you DW noobs; a DW without Goober is no DW, period. 4. Rich in deep jetting/fuel conversation with Big Lou, all the while forgetting he had the flower covered shower cap on. :p 5. Jeff Fredette & Billy absolutely RIPING laps on the GP track. 6. Friday night in front of my RV with Thump, AJ, Offroadr, Mully, Billy and probably someone else. I've nebber lauhed so hart in my lif. 7. Rich, at the bonfire Sat. Night: "Here, this will get it going". Later, Thump dragging me (in my chair) away from said fire yelling "RUN DUDE"! I look around, everyone is running for cover. "Pop" goes a little can of cheese-whiz. 8. Mikeb's seated freestyle show as he came around each time during the nighttime poker run. The nac-nac was awesome. Mikeb is another one of those "Must attend DW" kinda guys. 9. Where is my daughter? Slo' mo with an odd look on his face "Uh... Humm... I haven't seen her". 10. We wired Billy with the helmet cam for the A/B moto. We did this in the scoring tower, right before the gate dropped. I was fooling around with the camera, which goes in a fanny pack for a couple of minutes to make sure it's all correct, Billy takes off the the starting line. (yes, he broke thumps bike and the helmet cam during that moto). Later that night, I plug in the video in the RV and what do I see? 1 Lap of the race before the camera is swinging all over the place, taking some wild video. the best part of the whole deal? While we were hooking him up in the scoring tower, seems the shot from the camera mounted on Billy’s head was very consistent and stable. Right on my wife's butt. There was more footage of Scooter's butt than there was race footage. lol. 11. Seeing the entire group stop in their tracks when the National Anthem played each morning. It was 2 weeks prior that we all took a hit we'll never forget. DW was covered in flags. 12. The first day and a half: "If it stops now, it'll be fine". Thump says I repeated that statement about the rain 2-300 times. It rained folks. I mean IT RAINED. HARD. For a LONG time. Funny thing is, we had a blast anyway. That's the one thing I fear more than anything. WE can all plan this until we're blue in the face, but have no control at all when it comes right down to it. If I recall, Thurs/Fri/Sat were good though. 13. Offroadr's deep-fried Turkey. 14. Cowboy's choice of relief location 15. Scooter going WAY faster than she ever had in the Ladies MX. I was so worried, I forgot to film it. 16. Billy spilling 2 hours worth of freshly squeezed lemon juice on my mom. 17. Farmer John changing flats for people. A LOT of people. 18. Just sitting back and watching all the spodes getting along as if they had been friends forever, helping each other out and just having a great time. Like slo' mo said, DW isn't just about riding. I could go on forever with all of these little tid-bits. Pretty cool huh! DW makes memories. Come on October!!!
