Snapped axle clamp boss

During my rebuild I thought I would follow the manufacturers torque settings for everthing. I have a new torque wrench and I now believe that it works better in the higher 20-150ft lb range than in the 2-10ft lb range. I was torqueing the axle clamp bolts to the reccomended 4.5 - 6 ft lb range and one of the bosses snapped off. The bottom inside one to be precise.
With my bike (90 RMX 250) I have the Kayaba 41mm inverts.
My question is can I remove and replace the boss (stud)?
Do they actually thread out? I sure hope so. Would anyone dare ride even on slow sandy trails for an hour like this.(there are still 3 holding the axle)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

:| I hate it when that happens! I have snapped two of them off on my forks. And it always happpens when you have a ride or race planned.
If there are any threads left exposed try screwing a couple of nut on to the remaining stud and you should be able back it out. If there are no threads left get out the good ol' vise grips and grab on and carefully turn it out.
I agree with marcusgunby you might try a little heat first.
