So what National (or SX) tracks have you rode?

Just wondering what Outdoor National or Supercross tracks you have rode/raced. Maybe we can get a little better idea of what the different tracks are like, etc...

For me - I have raced at Red Bud and Steel City. Will add Gatorback to the list next week (used to be the opening round National). And looks like we might possibly be racing Washougal a few times next year, too.

I have never been on a true SX track - we always plan on attending Pontiac's Amateur Sunday (after the Pro SX on Sat.) and something else always comes up. Maybe next year.

Been to Glen Helen numerous times (less the BIG hills). Back in the 80s' (dating myself here) rode the two national tracks in Colorado; Castle Rock and Lakewood. Never have ridden a SX track, however I have had the opportunity to walk a few (Anahiem, San Diego, Rose Bowl), and I call you that the whoops on the SX tracks are HUGE :scream:

Well, I've raced at High-Point and Steel City... in 1984-86. A long time ago. I was racing 80cc class at the time and that was before Steel City was a stop on the national circuit, I believe.

I remember my first race at High Point - riders were grouped by age at that time (I think they still are in the mini classes?). This was the day before the pros raced (I got to see Glover, Ward, etc...) What I didn't know was that the best riders came from all over the country for this race. I've never felt so SLOOOOW in my life. Talk about a blow to my confidence. I still have the nightmares... :scream:

Budds Creek

Very fast track. Lots of wide open space. Massive hills, up and down but no really dangerous jumps. A couple steep off cambers to keep you from getting big headed. Its a very rider friendly track. Even if youre not a pro or close to it.

I have ridden the Indianapolis sx track on amateur day... The only differance was that the woops were cut down. I have alot of respect for those people. I could not tell you how steep the take-offs and landings are on some of those jumps. I did manage a couple of the doubles and the woop section was a joke (no problem).

I have rode all of the SX and National tracks that are on the PS1 Supercross Circuit. I even won a few. Unfortunately, the 400 takes a big hit for some reason so I have to ride a 250 to compete.

Washougal, Agassiz is my local track (there was a Canadian national there a few years ago)
Washougal is a very unique track, very cool natural roller sections that require WFO application and a lot of momentum to double (more like flat-land, not slam into face after face after face)

I can't wait to go back there.. Every time I've ridden there I've had a blast!

I've ridden Glen Helen a few times at the vet nationals, using 1/2 to 2/3 of the big Mt. St. Helens. Every year I am shocked again by how rough that place gets on race day. I have never seen anything else that even closely compares. The bumps in the straightaways get bigger than our whoops down here in Tx. and they are everywhere. It's impossible to imagine until you've ridden on it. And after you have, you get a whole new appreciation for the pro's.

Jason81 is right on about the SX tracks. In 99 a local pro raced the Dallas sx, and I was his mechanic. I couldn't believe how different it looked when we walked the track than from the stands. The faces are vertical, and the whoops looked unrideable to me. They were pyramid shaped, 3' deep caverns! It would be like hitting 30 three foot tall curbs at speed.

Budd's Creek...Wow, what a track. Fun hills, great jumps, and wow it is wide open! Doug Henry hill is like nothing else! Gotta love that feeling of the ground just falling out from under you!!:p Not to mention how great of a weekend of racing they have set up there. They definately keep you busy with the MX track, night SX, and the harescramble...Great place to go!

I've raced steel city and high point national tracks, and as far as sx goes, I've been to pontiac the last 3 years. And going back a few years I raced the Cleveland sx and the three rivers back in 83 and going further back I raced in Philadelphia's JFK stadium, I believe that was in 1980. Pontiac is a real good time, but I really like the high point sr./vet nationals in Sept. all old farts having some good races.

I've rode at Red Bud many times (but never raced there). Laracos (spelling?) leap is a very cool jump. I can't believe that anybody would have the nads to triple that thing. I like the way that Minnesota track looks has anybody been to that one?

As far as SX goes I wouldn't even want to attempt riding one of those tracks.

Millville is my home track, although it's an hour and a half away from me. It's my favorite track in our district, and the up hills are always a blast. But this last season's track is nothing like the previous years and has actually disappointed me. I still think the down hill double from 98 season is what needs to be brought back. Ever since Micheal Brandes watched his life all go by in a flash, they never built the down hill double.

the closest thing to a national track that i have ridden at is the nma nationals in ponca city, 1990. but your question got me thinking and i made a list of all the tracks that i have either practiced or raced at. despite my fading memory, i came up with 39 tracks in six states-real tracks that hold races, not just riding areas. i may have left out a few but that is probably a pretty close total.

Raced at Red Bud several times on the pro track...very cool. I've also raced at the Gainesville, FL Gatorback track, which was an outdoor national venue for many, many years. I liked both tracks. I thought Gainesville was a lot of fun, very fast with some nice sweeping corners and jumps. I've always wanted to ride at Budds Creek and Washougal, they both look like a lot of fun.

The only national track I've ridden on is Washougal, but it is a amazing track! The uphill is so fun. It could use some bigger jumps though.:D

Gatorback (when it was still a national) too hard pack.
Troy, big jumps, but kinda boring
High Point, great track can't wait to go back

Washougal is a great track, but that uphill sure gets scary on a big race weekend. Last time I was there for the Old Timers National, the weekend after the Pro National, that uphill got incredibly rough. Being out of shape, it took a lot of determination and grit to hold on while trying to scream up it in 4th gear. A couple of laps when I had no one close behind me, I'd slow down and use 3rd because 4th was getting *dangerous*! I'd almost get thrown from the bike every lap on that uphill, towards the end of the day. No part of the track beat me up more than that.

Gotta get in better shape!

I hear ya there Cam. The uphill really gets ruff. Last time I went ther it got so bad I had to slow down to third to and I couldn't sit because my back was sore becasue I didn't stop going up in 4th for a while and got my back hammered. Lucky for me I'm 15 and heal quickly.:)

I've ridden Budd's Creek. I rode it the monday after this year's national. They hadn't groomed the track and after the previous day's race the ruts and braking bumps were ridiculously big. The ruts were so deep on one of the hills with a step up that they had to cut it out of the circuit.

Red Bud is only 30min north of my house and I have been racing there since the late seventies.
I ride +25 and +30 there on the pro track only.I dont care for the night track up front.
Rode gatorback a few times and been to Pontiac in the early days.
I like fast open tracks such as the Bud and Iam hoping to get to Budds Creek
this summer.
I just love the double double and the leap. (double the leap but have come close to clearing the triple.) I have done the infield triple once and for me thats enough.

Southwick is part of the local schedule. The whole track except the frog pond section. It is an absolute blast to race and ride and the whoops that form, well you could loose small children in them

Unidila not the new amateur track , but the national track itself. Got to love a grass start, and the gravity cavity is the east coasts best roller coaster.
