what is the stock db level on the ktm 250 two strokes? i am looking to get one but am worried about noise.

Not sure about db levels, but the enduro models are quiet with the stock exhaust.

yes? compared to the 4 strokes? my parents are worried about sound and disrupting the neighbour hood even though i ride 7 miles away form the nearest house. they do not have a problem with the 4 strokes so wondering how they compare.

Sound from a 2-T does not travel nearly as far.

I have an 07 XC-W 200 2t with an FMQ pipe/spark arrestor on it and it's not loud at all. I'm only about 2,000 ft from my neighbors and ride in my backyard. No complaints yet.

Some people find the nasal sound of a 2t annoying, but as Okiewan said, it's a higher frequency sound so it doesn't travel as far as the lower frequency noise of a 4t.

At one of the last sound checks, my buddy's 06 300 tested 92 db and the 250SX w/ silencer tested 96db. My 250EXC w/ the OEM spark arrester was whisper quiet
