Hey guys,

I have a 1970 Yamaha AT1 125 Enduro. It currently has a rear sprocket with 49 teeth and tops out at 55 mph or so. If I replace the 49 with a 45 tooth sprocket how much more top end can I expect?

Thanks!

It probably won't go any faster and will be less fun to ride, acceleration will be less and it may not have the power to pull more gear. If you really want it to go faster find a top end and pipe off of a CT1 175 then try the gear change.

With the 49 the bike is geared so low that half the time I dont even use 1st. I start out in 2nd gear with plenty of torque. I think the bike orig. came with a 45.

I just checked my bikes and your correct, my at1 and my mx at2 have 14/45 sprockets, I have another at1 that has 13/49. My favorite trail bike is my ct1 with 13/45 sprockets, top speed on it is in the low 50s but I'm heavy and block a lot of wind. I think 55mph is real good for a AT1 if its stock.
