stock 79 YZ250 silencer any good?

I havent had the yz250 very long or have much experiance with dirt bikes.
The bike itself is in great shape, I have sandblasted the pipe and welded it up so it doesn't leak and painted it with high temp paint.
Is the stock silencer considered a quiet one?
Does it have to be cut open and repacked and then welded?

If not is there a quiet one that will bolt in or will it have to be a universal one?

I have already seen the Db snokel and will get it if that really is the ticket, it might be ugly but if it works...

Edit: I dont mind power loss one bit. I find it scary pulling a wheelie in 4th gear LOL

ats666, i to love the power it has but it can get you in trouble. Try using a IT250 of the same year to quiet the bike down. Also, if you want to tame the power down use a IT250 pipe for great bottom end gain.
