Im tired of the blue groove hardpack shredding expensive tires.
I dont believe studs or screws are legal in ama racing but I was thinking of using them at my practice track to
1: Save the fresh edge on the new tire I just mounted
2: Get better traction
I know Im not the only one to think of this and Im hoping someone else has tried this and can share whether er not it works.
Thanks

Studs will give you insane traction on any surface they penetrate but a regular tire doesn't. Studded tires will be worn out very quickly if you hit rocks or other hard stuff.

The sheet metal screws will likely break loose from the tire or cause the knobs to break off entirely. Plus those screws will litter the track and possibly get roosted into some other riders face or eyes. I wouldn't recommend doing this.

Oh yeah, I was talking about the real stuff, not screws. The ones with the tips that are extremely hard and that are glued and pushed deep into the tire. Anyways, what Mr. Gorr said still applies, although these do probably not fall out as easily.
