Whats the deal with the clutch when you adjust
free play at top and then there isnt any after
riding for awhile and it seems like the clutch is
slipping which it probably is since the clutch is
partially pulled in.Would this be the oil being used,
plates, springs. It doesnt make since since you can
adjust and then after a short ride it out again.Cable
seems fine. This suzuki clutch has never been right.
Any Ideals

I'm not sure I really understand your post but I'll give it a shot.

Just for curiousity reasons, what oil are you running??

The clutch cable may be stretched. It's hard to tell but if the cable is going bad then it will stretch little by little after every ride.

Another possibility is that you have worn frictions and springs. If the clutch has 'never been right' then I would go ahead and replace the plates, springs, the cable, and run Honda HP-80 oil in there.

original plates on a 01 rm250 that hasnt even been ridden much. The oil
I have tried was regular 30 weight and then trying tranny fluid dex3 to see
if that would make it better, because looking at it tore apart it looks fine and
the plates check out in tolerance, springs in length, but the thing can be adjusted
before a ride and then be out shortly after riding.

I run the 30 weight for oil and it works fine. You might just have a bad clutch flat out. My 01 has the original clutch with no problems yet. I have heard that the basskets are weak though.

Suzuki baskets do suck pretty bad.

I would be inclined to believe that you have week springs or a bad clutch cable.

I would get a new cable and try that. If that isn't the problem then at least you have a spare laying around.
