G'day, I have a 1978 Suzuki PE250, I bought it about 2 months ago and it has always been really hard to start (hot or cold). The bike push starts ok but will not kick start. I have cleaned out the carb and reset the float level. There is plenty of spark and the compression is 130PSI. It seems as if the cylinder is being starved of fuel.

Thank you in advance for your response...

Most likely you will find debris in the carb bowl, pilot jet, main jet ect. Clean carburator

OK, I pulled down to engine today and found that 2 of the reeds were raised by 1mm and the third one had a chip in it and was jammed, Would this be the cause of the bike not starting or could it be something else? Anything else I can check while the motor is pulled down?

Cheers.
