I have the special tool to unfixed the mag. all the bolt unscrew, the mag is dismantle, next step is to split the case but never do it. So do I have to take a special tool or what? I try to split with the hand but it won't. The crank beering seem to hold the case tigh together, isn't it!

Yes, a crankcase splitter tool funnily enough :) Work it slowy when separating the two halves, last thing you want to do is warp or crack the case.

I too am splitting a case soon on a 95 kx 125. Does anybody know if a crankcase splitter is absolutely necessary? or how much they are and where I could find one. Thanks.

Most crankcase splitters are nothing more than a metal bar with slots on the end for a very long bolt. In the middle is a large pointed bolt exactly like a gear puller. I use an automotive timing gear puller, which is exactly like a case splitter, except they cost about $9 vs. $30. However, you do have to find two very long 8mm bolts to use instead of the 5/16" bolts that comes with the timing gear puller. I got my bolts from a local fastener supply company for about $4.
You really need to buy or make a case splitter in order to get the case apart without damaging it.

Just wondering where i could get an automotive gear puller like that or even a crankcase splitter for $30. I just called kawasaki and they said over $150 for the part my manual suggests. Thanks again though, I got some much needed info.

i made mine-some times you can use a steering wheel puller and longer bolts from the local hardware store-- just think about it and make one
??you can soak the motor in scalding hot water--this will simulate a oven, use gloves to handle it , a rubber mallet -tap around the cases, and seperate
clean all the parts /berrings ,and lightly oil them
dont forget to seal the center case/gasket,or it will leak oil into the cylinder just like a blown crank case seal-(clutch side)
most of the time-assemble the left side first--it is easier because of the gearshift drum

thanks 2stroke for the links and ideas. I appreciate it. I'm in the middle of speaking with a mechanic at kawasaki. He might give me a deal on the labor. Just so i don't mess anything up, but if he doesn't i will be looking into buying those 8mm bolts and splitting it myself. Thanks again.

just use a rubber mallet and tap all around it, and it should separate a little, then take two screwdrivers and carefuly lift on both sides, and go all the way around it lifting little by little so that it lifts it evenly, and be careful not to chip or break it. That is what i did on mine and it worked fine, just don't pry hard or you risk damaging it..

p.s. i used long shafted, small end thin flat screwdrivers, so they would probably break before the case would.
