Team Samsung RadioShack
- press release -

DALLAS, December 16, 2003) - Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) and RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) get their tech-savvy motors revved up today as they announce a comprehensive 2004 Action Sports Marketing program highlighted by the sponsorship of Team Samsung RadioShack Supercross race team, a Yamaha factory support effort competing in the 2004 AMA Supercross Series.

Sponsorship of Team Samsung RadioShack offers both companies the opportunity to extend their brands and showcase their cutting-edge wireless phones to the energetic Supercross fan base, comprised of the coveted 15-25 year old early-technology adopters of wireless handsets and data services.

Building on the success of their Action Sports Marketing program, including sponsorship of the Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR race, Samsung and RadioShack are showcasing their

"SX-iness" via online and in-store promotions, offering consumers the chance to appear in Spike TV's upcoming reality television series, "The Reality of Speed," chronicling the lives of Team Samsung RadioShack. Additionally, at each Supercross race across the country, Team Samsung RadioShack will be available for autographs and pictures using Samsung's camera phones, currently available through RadioShack's more than 7,000 outlets.

Team Samsung RadioShack consists of six rising Supercross stars - three from the 125 East division and three from the 125 West division - who will compete each week at the 2004 Supercross Series, showcasing high-flying obstacles and dare-devil speeds. Riders for Team Samsung RadioShack include veterans Michael Blose, Matthieu Lalloz, Steve Mertens, Josh Summey, and rookies Cole Seibler and Chris Whitcraft.

"Samsung Telecommunications America is excited to align itself with Supercross and its fans. We are thrilled to participate in Supercross, a sport that embodies all that is Samsung - performance, innovation and excitement," said Pete Skarzynski, senior vice president, Samsung.

Echoing Skarzynski's comments is Jim McDonald, senior vice president, chief brand officer for RadioShack. "Much like our other action sports sponsorships, Team Samsung RadioShack enables us to reach hard-core sports enthusiasts with targeted brand and product messages concerning the wireless handsets they need and want," he said. "In fact, Supercross fans and their families are a great fit with one of the core tech-savvy demographic segments we're targeting."

The 2004 AMA Supercross Series debuts on January 3, 2004, in Anaheim, Calif., and Team Samsung RadioShack, a Holigan/Walters racing team, speeds through 14 cities over the course of four months culminating in Las Vegas on May 1, 2004.

That's cool! You've got to be excited about more outside sponsorships! And they're sponsoring 6 125 riders to boot! I just hope it works out better for them than it did for Sobe and Bud Light.

I saw the RC rc the other night. Next to it was the Travis Pestrana RC. It is the same toy just different color. Same company, etc. My son had a Travis Pestrana RC bike but it always crashed. Then again maybe it was working like it was supposed to. Maybe the change to RC will help with the performance!
