Not what you are thinking, Fired. Yep, unemployed. Tried to relieve some bitching by taking on additional work and got canned. Go figure.

Take this opportunity (and believe that it is an "opportunity") to find a better way (or place) to earn a living. Try something new. Move to where you've always dreamed of living. Turn lemons into lemonade. :thumb:

Well that sucks! :( Good luck and I agree with the lemonade thing. It's amazing how well things can turn out just when you think they've hit bottom.

I've got some leads so there IS light at the end of the tunnel. I'm going to take a couple of weeks off and get my mind straight. The stress over the last 6 months has been brutal. Thanks to the Support Team, I have some cushion in the bank and unemployment checks for 6 mos. I've never collected unemployment yet I've changed jobs maybe 15 times in 23 years.
FWIW, the bossman called me in after I had completed jobs that others started but could not complete. I had overcome problems and made the customers AND the local authorities happy with the systems that had been installed. So, the bossman said and I quote, "Brian, you've done a really good job for the company, you've made customers happy and helped other employees in learning the trade. As owner, I do many things, including, firing people. You're fired." No reason or further explanation was given. :scream:
So, I said, "Now, something totally different!" I walked out, called the wife, cleaned out my truck, turned in my company tools and laptop and said a few choice words:debil: to a troll of a fellow coworker and announced, "Elvis has left the building":aj:.
Never been fired before, definitely different. Lou, you are so right, "Work is highly over-rated!"

I am so sorry! I'm struggling right now with having my hours cut way back so I'm feeling your pain. And yes, I have been fired once, but the jerk that let me go was not only let go later but was sued by the owner who then asked me to come back. (I didn't go back. Just couldn't trust these guys anymore.)
Like these guys said, sometimes the 'big boss' has to give us a little nudge so we'll move on to bigger and better things! That adjustment period is just so hard, but the end result will be worth it!
Good luck!

You're fired." No reason or further explanation was given.

That's rather strange. I think I might have asked why.

But it sounds like you have a handle on your trade. Something will turn up.

I would say that sux, but it might be for the better. Sounds like the way the guy did it was wrong tho, heck at least i got some sympathetic words from my boss when i was " given the opportunity to leave". Well bro, there's always a room and free food at the ridge for ya, no need to pick out a refrigerator box. Damn sobriety, i don't know now if my sarcasm is seen as witty or , well rhymes with witty . :|

I'm sure it sucks right now, but may turn out for the better in the long run. Take time to re-assess your career. This may give you the option to make some decisions and career choices you wouldn't have ordinarily made being employed full time. What do you REALLY want to do in life?

And the only time I was fired (first job out of college), I was called into my manager's office. Standing next to him were 2 security guards. I was told that I was terminated, asked for my badge, and then escorted by security through the building and out to my car. They stood there until I pulled away. I was a lowly contractor programmer at the time, so that was pretty much their technique. Within a week I was working again, with a 20% increase in pay.

MikeT, I do security/alarm type work. Life safety systems, access control, safes, locks, keys, cameras. I have some leads.
Bundu, you are probably right. My wife and I have discussed that very posibility.

Lemonade can be a good thing. Maybe it's time you milk some of that unemployment. Old bosses hate paying it! Take some Classes to make you worth even more. Do some riding assess your situation. There's people that fall into a pile of crap and come out smelling like roses. I feel your one of them. Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.
