This is a copy of the email I sent out on the Team Grizzly mailing list.

Hello everyone,

This email is just to inform all the riders that a riding area is more than just a trail in a forest. Riding areas are the hard work of volunteer riders who maintain trail, and deal with officials to keep areas open.

Chipmunk Creek:
If you don't live in the 'wack, then you might not have heard about the ski resort planned for Chipmunk Creek. The area doesn't directly impact the riding area yet. I've agreed to be the point of contact with all the agencies concerned and send a letter of introduction to all parties.

More on the story in the Chilliwack Times:
http://www.chilliwacktimes.com/032203/news/032203nnl.html

A Clean up day and BBQ for Chipmunk is April 12th. Please call Keith at 604-581-9359 for more info. This will be your chance to obliterate the section that gave you trouble in the last race. :)

McNutt:
Trails are not the exclusive domain of off-road riders. They are to be shared. An incident up at McNutt with a trail being groomed for a mountain bike race could give our sport a black eye. Several members of the PNWMA have agreed to volunteer their time to repair the trails and the relations between the mountain biker's and ourselves.

Here's the article in the Maple Ridge Times:

Also note that anyone entering the riding area off 256th Ave is supposed to drive approx 1 km past the gate. The gate closes at 6:00pm. There is a clearing where parking is available. People have parked before the gate and ridden. This is illegal and annoying to the partrons of the nearby restauraunt.

Vedder Mtn:
Riders have been unloading their bikes just off of Cultus Lake road. This is causing problems with the owners of a nearby bed & breakfast. Parking is available approx 2km up the gravel road to the right.

The Vedder Mtn Clean up day is Saturday. March 29th. please call the Cascade Off-Road Club for more info at 604-504-3956.

This state of the trails address was provided to inform everyone about the work that goes on. To return the favor I ask all riders to help out a little bit. Join a club, clean trail, educate other riders, or even pick rocks for a few minutes. This is where a little help can go a long way. And if you did help, then keep up the good work. :)

Mike

PS: Please pass this email on to anyone who is involved in off-road motorcycling and would be interested in it.
