Assuming I have the clearance would it be a good idea to mount this large a tire for a mud race????
My thinking is that it has more surface area.
Have any of you done this and what is to be expected

If you put a 250 tire on a 125, it will really slow down your acceleration because of the extra mass of the tire. I remember thinking it was a good idea at one time too, until i read about the reasons behind the sizes that they come with.
Its a 125 size tire for a reason.
less pressure can help, as long as its not too rocky. But a good 125 mud tire is best. And lots of wd-40 on the bike. Heck give yourself a coat to while you are at it :)

The tire size is a 120 and it is going on a 250. Standard size for a 250 is a 110/90 19. Where did you get the idea I was putting this on a 125? I do agree that that size tire is way to big for a 125 since they come with 100's.

Why not? I would think that switching up to a 120/90-19 wouldn't be a problem, as long as clearance isn't an issue (which it shouldn't be).

StudBoy,

I'm sure your KX265 would make good use of a lil' larger tire, like a 120/90-19.

Faded, yes as always wheelspin is a problem. Actually, I have an 18" rim. I have though about it but I think that it will rub my silencer, as every now and again my M12 rubs it now!

The Michelins are sized different:

Mich 120/70-19=100/90-19 (125s)
Mich 130/70-19=110/90-19 (250s)
Mich 140/70-19=120/90-19 (4S 450s I believe)

Been gone for a week.......but here are the results
I can tell no noticible difference with the larger tire. If anything is different it might be a little more squirrly coming out of turns but it was slick so its hard to say.
No clearance issues though.
No big deal this tire just had sharper knobs
It is a Dunlop 752
