I know someone in this vast reservoir of knowledge will know--
What kind of threads are on the inside of a tire valve stem?
Why do I want to know? I need to clean the corosion out of some with a tap(?) so that my valve can work properly. Thanks John

You can get a cheap ($2-$3) valve stem thread cleaner tool at your local AutoZone/Murray's/PepBoys.

Cleans up both ID and OD threads.

I have one of these multi purpose valve stem tools, but the clean out for the interior threads is blunt and too short to go down to clean below the valve stem. I thought a tap would work well because it is tapered and is plenty long. I will check to see if a newer one of the tools is differently designed. In the meantime does anyone know what kind of threads are there?
