i have a question. What is the best intermidiate tire? Price doesnt matter but i would like a durable tire. Are the Dunlop D756 good for this?

The general concensus is the 756 rear loses its edge pretty quickly compared to the likes of an Metzeler MC4 or Michelin M12. It sticks good when it sticks good but then goes away. Other riders I know feel that it slides laterally more than other S-to-int tires in soft terrain conditions.

Pirelli MT44 fronts, MT32 F/R, and MT320 F/R seem to hold up pretty well too in the soft-to-int catagory.

We try to avoid the use of the term "best" around here if possible BTW. Too many variables.

Hey, if you're a dunlop guy then you're a dunlop guy so run the 756. If not stuck on dunlop, a dozen different tires will work for you as well.

sorry for the "best" i though about what i said after i posted it. Im not stuck on dunlop. Im just looking for a good soft-intermediate tire. Bridgestone or Michelin or whatever. Any other help? thx TexKDX

Hey marcv125,
I know there has been a lot of response on here but I have been most satisfied with Michelin's. I run the S12 on the rear and the M12 on the front. Try this and let me know what you think.:aj: (just had to pick this one, Eddie from Iron Maiden)

alright i think i will go with the s12/m12 combo..alot of people like it so it must be good. I am going to order all of my parts today..My parts i mean (Yamaha of troy graphics,s12/m12 tires,new plastic,renthal 50 rear,13 tooth front sprocket and renthal o-ring chain) I let you know when i try them out. thx for the replies..

wait why not a m12/m12 combo i will be on intermidiate terrain most of the time..so i dont want to soft of a tire becuase it wil wear fast does the s12 wear fast? i need an answer asap thx

You just pick marcv125, I was giving you my .02 and telling you I have had the best luck out of this combo! Thanks and pm me and let me know what you do and how you like it. I am going to Loretta Lynn's in April and am thinking of putting a H12 on the rear because that place will eat a tire like nowhere I have ever been before. But you do ride a lot of creek beds there too. But when I get home, the S12 will be right back on.

Nothing wrong w m12/m12 - got them on my 300. The S12 front is a better "all around" tire than the S12 is as a rear.

The S12 front/M12 rear will give you good all-around performance and durability. If you have some true hard pack conditions, the M12 front will work better than the S12 front.

Rocks chew up all tires. Sometimes you don't have a choice based on conditions and have to run a soft tire with rocks. That's just part of it. If you want bite in mud and sand where you have rocks as well, run the full softs and replace them when they wear out.

I have been told that soft terrian tires have the hardest rubber compound, So they should wear the longest. Thats the reason they tend to Chunk in the rocks.

Here in the midwest I only run S-12's, didnot like the M-12's quite as much in the mud and sand. But still a great tire.
