I am looking to buy a former supercross bike that is from Texas and I have been told by the current owner that Texas does not issue titles. Is this true? I have heard of several states that do not title just didn't think Texas was one of them.

Also if I check out the VIN and nothing comes up does that mean it is not stolen? How can I verify if the bike is legit and what if the legal owner is not the person I take delivery from??

Lastly, how do I register the bike in California with no title?

Do I need a bill of sale or what? Thanks

I live in Texas and I have off-road title for my bike issued by the State of Texas. I would the VIN with the cops before buying it. It maybe that he bought it and never registered it, but I dought it. Most shops charge fee for it before you pick it up.
