Top End? Bottom End?

I see lots of talk about top end and bottom end rebuilds in newspaper ads and the like.. what exactly is a "top end" and a "bottom end"?

top end is piston, rings, and connectin rod and rod bearings. bottom end refers to the crank shaft and all of the gears and clutch.

Errr.. wrong

Top end does not include the rod... It only includes the piston, rings and wristpin & bearing.

The rod, Crank and rod bearing are part of the bottom end.

Clutch is not part of a bottom end rebuild.. That would be a clutch rebuild.

This used to be a good site, untill people with no experience come here and start posting things that arnt true.
