I made a thread earlier but no one of you decided to help me out, maybe there are others out there that can tell me the top speed of a CR80 Expert?

No one helped you in the earlier post because the top speed of an MX bike is totally irrelevant unless you are a desert racer, and I doubt that you are racing desert races on an 80. The top speed is faster than you will ever go on an MX track or in the woods, so why does it matter?

why do you even care why cant you just try to help me insted if being a jerk? And i wanna know because i will be trail ridding where sometimes the straight aways stretch for up to half a mile.

i wouldnt mind knowing the top speed on my bike, its just something thats fun to know..and yeah theres spots where i can hit pinned 6th on my bike

It depends on how your bike is geared, the condition of the engine, the size of your rear tire, and even the size of the rider on it. I dont think anyone here knows the exact top speed af a cr80, and it really dont matter that much either. You seem to be a little hardheaded about this. My best guess would be a little under 60.

go wide open down the road and have a freind cram a stick in your spokes. you take the number of spokes left and devide that by your weight times the distance you flew and that is the top speed

so (WxD)/S= top speed

Yes I guess a good estimate could be 60,but as it has been already said it depends on gearing and so on.

he doesn't even have an 80 so how can he run it on the straights.
i guess he wants to know how fast he's going in his dreams,
no I've got it -
he is asking so he will know how many bones he will break when he bails at full throttle, obviously riding way above his head.

one last thing when a moderator locks a thread it's best not to whine about it and you really shouldn'r repost it. you're just asking for a bashing.

You won't get too much help here. A while back some one made a similar post and every ripped it apart including the moderators.

Do a search and see if you can come up with something that will help you. They sat it is irrevelent yet they have forums for thing so far of topic that it is bazzar. Or you can just look through the dance questions or the cpu questions or memorize movie lines...

whats up with bashing us teens? im 15 and im responsible...theres not many of us...but those of us that are get bashed anyway. i know what crashings like and i know what injuries are like...im out for atleast 2 weeks with a shoulder injury...and i know what stupid questions are too. honestly guys...when u all were young and riding didnt u ever question your bikes speed? no offense to anyone, because i respect u guys as riders

To be honest, on pavement, I would say well over 60, when pinned, in a tuck in 6th gear. My buddy has a littel 3.5hp scooter and that thing does 50, so it has to go at least that fast.

All right Soccer, We'll stop bashing you. The reason we were a little hard on you is that MX bikes usually never reach their top speed ever on any type of track, BUT, I'll guess that your bikes top speed (if you really have to know) is probably 50mph. Slower than you wanted to hear but probably pretty accurate. If you want to gear it higher you might hit 60.

That's it! We need a "How Fast is it" forum. Then we could determine every possible combination of gearing, rider weight, state of tune, fuel type, oil to fuel ratio for every bike made. "mgorman" your a numbers type of guy so let's put some of that edumakation to work and get a Excel file established to accomidate say from 1964 on? Now don't forget that some bikes came with different ratios depending upon their intended use. If you could, I think a friction loss calculation for the various chain types, lubes and cleanliness of the drive chain and sprockets might not hurt. Hey we need to give these kids the most accurate information available.:silly:

When I was your age, no there were not dinasaurs walking around, there were alot of 2 stroke Enduros. I had a Yamaha DT125. On the street, pinned, going down hill with a tail wind I could hit 65 mph. How did I know, Speedometer. Again, top speed is irrelevant. If your smilin', its fast enough.

Here is a way you can determine your top speed. With a tape measure, mark off 88 feet. Hit the first mark at pinned in top gear and don't let up till you pass the second mark. Have someone use a stop watch to see how much time it takes to pass thru the two marks. If it takes exactly 1 second to traverse the 88 feet, you are doing 60 mph. Over a second, less than 60: less that a second, more than 60.
