Being located in South Africa, and having a pretty shoddy currency value and postal system, I have decided to try and make my own torque ring for my '01 220.

From what I can see it is a flat alloy spacer, with and identical diameter and sidewall thickness as the end of the pipe, and it looks to be 3-4mm thick. Is this correct so far? Is the spacer simply inserted between the pipe and the head as to change the effective length of the header?

I guess the thickness is pretty critical to how effective it will be. Has anyone played with different thicknesses to see the effect of it?

Send Jeff Fredette an email and I'm sure that he will give you the specs. I have one but it is dark out and it is in the bike. I think you're right on with guestimation of 3-4mm I would'nt go anymore because you will comprimise the seal of the expansion chamber to the head.
