Trails In Ny, Nj?

I am new in the U.S., but I brought my hobby with me from Europe. Any one here to introduce me in dirt bikers American world? I live in NY, and I am interested to communicate with riders around this area. I need to learn some things (legal, technical, nice trails, etc.).

Where in NY are you? What type of riding are you looking to do? Do you have a plated "legal" bike?
