I have always had problem shifting with my boots on, but I just always thought it was the boots hitting on the frame. And often times it is. It shifts great between 1,2 and 3. But at higher RPMs I have trouble shifting in to 4, 5 and 6. I have tried with regular shoes on and it shifts fine, but I am shifting at lower RPMs (low speed area in my neighborhood and back at the parking lot where I ride). Also, it seems to shift better in to those gears when I don't use the clutch and just chop the throttle then if I pull in the clutch. I have tried all kinds of tranny fluid (10W40 car oil and Motul 10W30 motorcycle tranny oil and some others) and it makes no difference. I change the tranny oil after 2-3 rides. What could be causing this behavior? Thanks.

I cut the little u shaped guard off because it was getting in the way. I never hit the frame now and feel more secure in my shifting. I know this was not your main question, I don't know what to tell you about that.
