Used Bike Dealer

I am looking to buy a used MX bike. I am not a good mechanic and I don't have too much experience in the dirt bike market. Thus, I am a bit wary of buying from a private party.

Accordingly, I want to buy from a dealer. I am willing to pay a bit more for a bike that someone will stand behind.

Does anyone know of a good used bike dealer? I am located in Southern California, but I would pay reasonable shipping costs for the right bike. Bonus points if the dealer has a web site that lists inventory.

Thanks!!

By stand behind, I mean someone who will honestly tell me what is wrong with the bike in the first place and who will actually feel bad if he is wrong. I am not expecting a warranty, but I would like someone I can find and at least yell at if necessary.

I liked three brothers racing in costa mesa CA, I bought a XR600 from them. The only thing I didn't like is you have to pay doc fees, and taxes right there. ( same at all dealers.)

If you look on www.ocautotrader.com then click on cycle trader they'll give you all there bikes listed online, several dealers have there links listed for there entire used inventory. Another resouce is www.cycletrader.com. for nationwide results.

Do you know what your looking for 4 stroke or 2 stroke? how new? or how much $$ your willing to spend?

I know 3 bros. has 5-10 used bikes that look pretty good,
champion has a couple yz400's I saw yesterday,
I also know some quality friends selling 2 stroke and 4 stroke bikes.
I may be selling my KLX340 4 stoke w/ cust susp. , with a new rebuilt motor (being done at Mission Yamaha currently) if I can work out a deal on a 2002 yz250f.
Let me know what your looking for, I might be able to steer you in the right direction. Looking forgood deals on new bikes is kind of a hobby for me.

Thanks for the info. I will check out ocautotrader as you suggested.

I am looking for a recent technology (circa 1997ish) 2-stroke MX bike. Slight preference for a KX because my trail bike is green and I am getting my kid a KLX 110. I don't have too much money to spend on this bike (first priority is my kid's bike and his gear), I can't spend more than $2,000 - $,2500.

Honestly, I would look private party. More bang for the buck and realistically the sales guy at the dealer won't know what wrong with the bike, sure if the engine blown they'll have to fix it but you could tell that. 3 Bros will fire them up for you if your serious though.

I know Ol89er had a pretty good cr250 for about that range. I can't remember the year, I think he still has it.

Thats about what I'd ask for my MX ready KLX340 with a brand new motor if you want to go four stroke. Its not for sale, unless I work out the other deal. I love that bike.

you'll find a lot above your range. good luck
