I have seen this done (a few times) with guitar players, but who do you guys think is the best vocalist ever?

Bob Seger and Joe Cocker are on my list, but best ever. . . ???

Man where to start? In no particular order
  • Tom Waits
  • Elvis Costello
  • Glen Danzig
  • Jack Johnson (new guy but he's ok)
  • Johnny Cash

I know I'll think of more.

Hmmm...tough one.

-Robert Plant
-Sebastian Bach
-Chris Cornell
-Stevie Ray Vaughan (I always thought he had a great voice in addition to his unbelievable guitar work)

Alison Kraus.  Saw her at an intimate little theater this year, and she sings like an angel.  Her band, Union Station, also has a boatload of talent.

Stevie Ray
Bonnie Rate
Andrea Bocelli (Opera)
Chris Cornell
Martina McBride (I don't like all of her songs, but that voice is powerful)

Barry Gibb is the best by far, and if anyone here disagrees, you are more stupid than I could ever imagine.

The dead, retarded guy (Maurice) was #2, but Robin passed him when he died.

(Thanks for the info Pred)
