Annie Lennox is at the top of my female vocalist list. Sheryl rocks, too. And believe it or not, I think Cyndie Lauper has a great voice.

Hey JP, you're a black man inside, too? How 'bout Curtis Mayfield? Or Smokey. Or Marvin.

Milk, I think Barry rocks. But if you love him, you have to love his duet with Big Nose Streisand. So fess up.

I second the notion of Cindy Lauper. Not that she is #1 qualified, but both Madonna and Lauper came on the scene at about the same time, and it has irked me no end that Madonna made it big and Lauper sort of just hung on.

Have you noticed that Lauper has actually turned into her mother??

Lots of good choices in this thread. :thumb:

Someone mentioned Joan Osbourne. She is pretty incredible. Great voice.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Sinatra. I never appreciated that style of music, but as I'm getting more mature (cough), I'm starting to dig some other styles of music other than rock.

To these names, I'll add:

Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
Jim Morrison

and

Bob Dylan (Not!) How that dude made a living singing, I'll never know.

Gee... no one's mentioned Roseann Barr yet! She's only a slightly better singer than my ex-wife and brother in-law.

But seriously folks....

I'm not a huge fan of female vocalists, but Pat Benatar has a great voice. Nice & smooth & bluesy. Another great voice is Susan Tedeschi.

Dean Martin... LOL.... from a little river town called Steubenville Ohio. There are still a few guys around that knew him. Kinda neat to hear them tell stories. Especially when he'd bring the 'Pack to town for a visit.
