Can anyone tell me how to locate the water pump bearing, i have stripped the propeller & water seal out already, being not visable does this mean i have to break the side case open to locate it,also on the governor for the water pump there is a thin metal shroud that i have managed to damage, can this be replaced without the whole piece?

hi carts

yes, the bearing is inside de right side engine cover. go to the kawasaki site and print the schematic it'll help you during assembly/disassembly

by governor you mean the pump shaft? can't recall the metal shroud you mention... sorry

i think that the 220 has a mechanical seal for the waterpump. that could explain the metal shroud (if it has a spring and a rubber boot inside the part we are talking, it is the seal). this seal has a small carbon ring that rides over a porcelain or hardened steel washer - thus sealing - check the rubber boot inside the spring for cracks or leaks.
