Sander works well. Use a little polishing compound to clean up the area where you removed the NFHU designation. The S-12 tires have number, letter combos that are near pre-formed boxes on the tires. Unless the officer in question is well versed in DOT letter number combos you should be fine. I had a police officer look at my tires in a fairly close fashion when I did mine and his statement was "looks good to me." I did mine on a whim and am glad I did cause it would have cost me a set of DOT tires in order to pass inspection if I hadn't!

Pirelli Scorpion Pro is identical to the S-12 front and is already DOT legal.
Yes, I have heard that those are a very good tire. Do they sell a DOT legal option for the rear? How are they priced? Are they as affordable as S-12’s?

Rocky Mountain has the fronts for $60. Club member had priced them at a larger dealer and they were $4 more than an S-12.

Not aware of a rear version. I'm still using 760 TrackMasters on the back.

Yeah that's a good option but the 760 front is not so good.

With the Pirelli/Trackmaster combo, you are probably equal in price to a set of S12's......maybe less.

Thanks for the advice.
