I have a 2005 YZ 125 on order it should be in any time soon.

I am moving up into a very competitive class in my region (40 riders or more at every race) from the 80 class I raced in this year. My first year racing.
The class is dominated with four strokes and the 125 2 strokes seem to be at a big disadvantage.

However I like to be different I want to stay 2 stroke and I think I will spend my cash on mainly lessons and suspension leaving the motor stock. However I was considering looking into some sort of parts or something to make the bike even lighter. I am very small 17 years old and around 5'3 I only wiegh about 110 pounds with gear on I train hard and excercise by I still fear I may tire out trying to ride the 2 stroke hard enough to keep up with the 4 strokes (Even Bubba has to work hard to keep his 125 up front)

Is there any light wieght parts that are worth spending my money most seem to think motor mods arent worth the money. I have heard lots of carbon fiber and titanium parts that save wieght.
Is there any of these parts that actually make a noticable difference and if not what parts come the closest to making a difference.

People rave about 3 pounds lightened off a bike from the year before I figure if I can shave a few extra pounds off of my new YZ 125 I can make a splash in my new class for next year and keep the amazing sponsorship deal I have earned for next season. I never blame my bike I know its the rider who makes the difference but... I still think the weight difference will help me.

I want to prove to people that someone else other than Bubba can roost the four strokes on a two stroke still.

Thanks for listening I know I will hear some save your money you dont need that stuff but I am hoping some will have some useful insight into the world of aftermarket lightweight parts.

Why waste that cash on a new ride like that it won't help you any, I have seen guys roost on 125's against the new 4 strokes. How's this a saw a local vet guy was 47 holeshot a race in deep sand on a slightly clapped out '01 YZ 125 against my friends CR500AF and 3 450's! I have it on tape and lead it for 6 laps before tiring out from lack of riding. It was killer, waste your cash more on training and upkeep of your ride. I'm not knocking ya but bling bling trick parts is not gonna make ya any faster over gaining real skills. Have more fun laughing when you roast them on your "dinousaur" 2 stroke :)

If I did one mod to my 125 it be at least a billet clutch basket causing you'll be banging on that clutch. Since YZ's are tall maybe get an after market seat and cut it down cut the bottom the base side and then smooth it up with sand paper and tape the edges recover. Do stuff to make the bike more tailor fit to your size. Stuff like that will make it more whipable so you can ride it like bubba does.

Yeah I think I will probably go for some mods to make the bike smaller since there doesnt seem to be much to make the bike easier to handle by lightning it up some. Hell I might be fine on the way it is stock I work out and train pretty hard now.
But when I drove my buddies RMZ 250 on my track it felt hard to throw around. I also drove a KTM 250 however and found it was awesome because it had woods suspeneion for like a 180 pound rider it worked awesome with me as a 110 pound rider on my MX track.

What do you mean by baseline on the seat? I am getting my suspension lowered one inch and may look into sub frame modification.

I know its not all power thats why I plan on leaving the engine pretty much stock. If say I ended up smashing up my stock pipe would an aftermarket system be lighter? I know they are on some machines but not sure about modern two strokes.

I was already thinking of purchasing a Wiseco clutch basket and Hinson inner hub to have when the stock starts wearing out.

This is some major cash here but it will definitely lighten the bike up. Titianium bolt kit for your bike is said to drop 4lbs. Titanium rear axle. Titanium shock spring. Shaving your seat foam. GYT-R Magnesium triple clamps. Pay attention to the weight of the tires you buy and the weight of the gear, boots and helmet you wear. Aftermarket silencer, preferrably a shorty (not sure if titanium is offered). check on whether or not the 02-04 titanium subframes will fit. I guy here in my area bought them all off Yamaha (60 of 'em)and I was able to get one from him for $160 off E!b!a!y!. That drops 1 lb alone. Aftermarket hubs are also supposed to be lighter.

I can't say whether or not this is all worth it or not as I could never afford to do it but it is what you asked for.

4 lbs on a bolt kit? How much do they cost?

Holy cow! Those prices are ridiculous... I guess that I'll stick to my heavy bike.

yeah those prices are steep but not much more than what I expected. Maybe I will see if I can get my Main sponsor a Yamaha dealership to become a distributor or something so I can get the stuff at cost. Otherwise I think I am over my head I really cant see myself investing the cost of the bike in hop up parts.
It would be nice to get a few of those things though.
