WER Damper and Stock Headlight...Question

I am considering getting a stock (or similiar to stock) headlight for my 2000 KDX. I currently have the WER damper and the UFO Twins headlight. The UFO Twins light has a piece cut out to allow for the shaft on the damper, but I was wondering how the stock light will work with the damper. Is it necessary to buy the headlight relocating kit from WER? Any help is much appreciated before I pull the trigger on the new light!

Yes the headlight will have to be relocated. No you do not need to pay $20 for 4 tabs to relocate it. I made a homemade relocateing kit with 4 bolts, 4 nuts and 4 sheetmetal tabs. I just got some thin sheetmetal and some metal shears and cut 4 tabs about an inch long each and drilled a hole at the top and bottom of each tab. Now mount all the tabs where your headlight will go. Now you have 4 tabs with 4 holes that will accept your headlight an inch higher.

I just cut the bottom of the headlight off used one tab on the bottom to mount,

I used the WER headlight relocating kit on mine. Keeps it looking OEM. I am going to be removing this from my bike since I now have KX forks and required a longer rubber headlight connector. If your interested in buying it send me an e-mail.

How do you like the WER damper? Just finished engine mods so it will be a little while before I am ready to buy.

I absolutely LOVE that thing. My unit was about 5 years old when I got the bike, and after about a year with me riding it, the unit had to be rebuilt. I had it off the bike for about 5 rides and had so many near crashes it wasn't even funny. My arms were much more tired as well. Put the rebuilt unit back on and was again amazed. Not just at how much the damper helped, but how much the rebuilt damper helped. I can't imagine riding without one. WER was awesome to deal with on the rebuild thing also. For the price, I think the WER is great. Is it as good as the Scotts damper...probably not. But it's a good deal cheaper. :cool:

You will never know it is there until it saves you again. Think of it as a safety device or that is what you tell your wife or other, because it will reduce your medical needs. Headshake is over and riding in sand is a breeze. They should come as standard equipment on off road motorcycles! I will not get into the WER - Scotts debate, but I do prefer the WER mounting location. I set mine and forget it anyway so the Scott rapid/easy adjustment feature does not mean much to me. Either is a big improvement over nothing. Cheers John

I agree about the location...nice to have it out of the way. I also set mine and leave it alone. The Scotts unit is awesome...my dad and brother both have one. But for my pennies, the WER is just great!

.....and on the eigth day God made steering dampners.....

No really I will NEVER ride without one again. I bought mine from a fellow DRN member and it has worked flawlessly since day one. Absolutely worth every single penny.
