Unless you are racing, I would look into a 2004 KX 100 or a late 2003 left over RM 100 since there are no more new 04 RM 100s.

But for 85s, basically: YZs and CRs are the top end monsters, and the KX and RMs are the low end monsters. If you are going to be doing pretty much primarilly track riding, the YZ or CR is for you, but if you are going to be riding at other places than tracks, like opened feilds, occasional trails, etc, a KX or RM is for you, since the powervalves will also come in handy. But IMO, your best bet is a KX or RM 100.

Yeah give us you heighth. I almost got a TT-R but instead a RM80. You probably want to get a 100 because it will last you a little longer. A KX100 is awsome on the trails and track. It has the low end of a KX85(and probably more) and some great top end power. Are you going to race? If you going all trails and occasional track riding a KDX or 200EXC would fit(instead of a KX100).

Get back to us.

Hey. If you are planing on moving up a move to a 85cc 2stroke would not be a whole lot faster than a TTR-125 but atleast it will be some. I have ridding both and found that the 85 is only a little faster but the TTR-125 is funner to ride (although i really don't like 4- strokes :p) . If I were you I would move up atleast to a KX100 (Or talk your parents into getting you a YZ125 :thumb:. But if you must get a 85 I have read taht the YZ85 has been on top for a while followed closely by the CR85.

If the 85 you rode was only a little faster than a TT-R 125 then you better get the engine torn down to find out what's wrong with it.

If you feel you have the skills to keep the bike "on the pipe" then the YZ or CR would be fine if not the Powervalved engines of the KX and RM are a better bet. As for the YZ's being on top in this class all the bikes are good and it's more about the rider. Around here it's all KX's and RM's at the top in the 85cc class. Bottom line is they are all good bikes, pick the one that best suits you (powervalve/no powervalve) and deal with the best dealer around around you.

Ya the YZ's and CR's are for the more expierenced riders. The KX's and RM's are a little slower but have better bottom power, while the Yamaha and Honda have a gnarly top end.

I think you should get a full sized 125 why would you want to get another bike in year because you out grew it already when you can get a 125 or atleast a 100 and ride it for much longer?

I totally agree. Get a 125. I'm 5'6 and I do fine on mine with no trouble handling it.

I originally came to this forum in search of an 85cc or 100cc 2-stroke, and I made a thread asking about which one I should get. Everyone was telling me to get a 125, and I was totally dismissing that idea.

I finally just sat down and thought about it, as well as sitting on my friends CR125, and I made my decision and got a 125 and it was one of the greatest decision I have made. I, and you would outgrow a mini-mx pretty fast.

Thats what I'm doing right now thinking which to get...But im between a 125 and 250 I'm riding a kdx 200 so I think the 250 would be the best choice what do you guys think? Also why are the 125's taller than the 250's its not a problem but I just thought it was a little strange. What do you guys think?
