1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
6'4, 170

2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
Moderate

3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
Gravel pits, fields, occasional track

4) Do you have any riding experience?
Two years on an xr100, one season on a yz125

5) Do you think you will race ?
Probably not

6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
Everything but case work

7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
Yamaha, Honda, would like to try a KTM. 2 stroke for sure.

8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
All 5 within about 40 miles

9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike?
$3000

10) Do you live in California?
Nope

11) Your age?
16

12) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
I like my yz125, but the more i ride it the more boring it gets to ride. Another option for me would be to get an Eric Gorr 144 kit on my current bike. I don't want a four stroke because of the cost of maintenance. I like being able to spend $100 for top end every few months.

I would suggest stepping up to a 250 2 stroke and skipping that 144 kit.

If you got bored with a 125 in 1 season, you'll be bored of that 144 in 1 season too.

well if you definitely want a 2 stroke, 250.
But i think you should go for a 450 (4 stroke)
WTF YOUR YZ 125 GETS BORING?
Mine gets funner the more time i spend on it, They are like awesome. Damn i love my yz, but if i could afford a yzf250 id probably get one :D

what do you guys think about me switching to a wr250? everything seems more convenient with the wr's but i'm worried the fun of my 125 won't be there.

The 144 will likely lower the resale value of your 125, as soon as most of the general public finds out a bike has been raced or modified they figure it's been trashed.

If you are bored of your 125 then a WR250 which I am assuming means the WR250F 4 stroke not an older WR250 2 stroke then you will find no joy there.

With a budget of $3k in your market I'm guessing you'll be limited to a 250 2 stroke. I'd try to find an 04 or newer RM250 or 05 and newer YZ250 within your budget.
