I am 14 years old and want a dirtbike what do you think I should look for?

Iam 66inces tall and weigh 111lbs, iam a moderatly aggresive rider and plan to lear to hit big jumps a eventually hit the mx tracks. I have riding experience and i dont think i will race. I do all my bike work myself.. The brand doesnt really matter but im kinda pushing towards a 4 stroke. Iplan to spend under 4000$ on a bike.

thanks Ryan :ride:

Hmm if you really want a 4 stroke CRF250 or the other 250cc 4 strokes will be good for you. But I think you can get a 125cc 2 stroke and it'll be better because they are light, like you.. I'm 140lbs and 17 years old, I got a KX125 this week, I liked it really..

Patchy_125, dude, if you thought you saw him well you didnt because he is in another country.

ryan864, i would not recomend buying a used 250F or any liquid cooled 4 stroke modern day MXer because its like buying a time bomb at the blackmarket without a timer. I would suggest a good used 125 2 stroke of some sort. The Yamaha YZ125 has the heighest seat height out of all the 125s in the 2000 + range.

Doesn't the first quote negate the second?

Any post 1980's MX bike is liquid cooled.

Do you guys put any thought at all into what you post? Or do your brains shut off as soon as you start typing.

And by the way, Ryan, you should fill this form out when you ask what bike to get. http://www.dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread.php?t=108916

what year is your kx ? you race on mx tracks ??

I have 93' KX125 and I'm a beginner. I haven't ride it on track, but I'll try the bike hard in trails this Sunday. When I get used to it, I will start practising on track..
