Man , This reminds me of "back in the day " (circa 1982) When some poor guy would show up at our local mx track (White Oak MX Park, White Oak VA, Some of you might remember the track before it was closed) on an XR 200 and he would have to race against the 250 2-strokes , Or if he was on an XR 350 he would have to race the open class . Talk about a disadvantage!!!!
Am I missing something? It seems like they didn't change anything. Originally they were talking about eliminating the engine size advantage for 4 strokes but they didn't do that at all from what I see.
I was out of commission for a while and when I seen what was going on I was like what the heck??? 250 2t vs 450 4t, um do the math! This stupid handicapping rule has been around for a while! There was a good effort to get these mental midgets to use a little common sense, but!
The 144 2T in with the 250F helps somewhat... keeping in mind the 144 had to be a virgin 125 which screws the KTM folks. What was on the table but didn't pass was the "Equal Displacement" which put the 250T in with the 250F. At the end of the day the AMA said it would need a few more years to investigate. A good 144 2T with a good rider will and can compete with the 250F, the rider had best be in good physical shape.
The AMA doesn't have the stones to stand up to the manufacturers and the big 4 are putting all their resources into the 4 strokes. Thus you have a 4 stroke bias governing body
