I am 15 years old, am 6'2'' and weigh 160 lbs. I am not experienced on dirtbikes but very experienced on 4-wheelers. I am looking to buy a dirtbike, but i dont know what to get. I have some questions that i want help with:

1.Can i handle a CR250, YZ250, KX250.. ect.. two-stroke? Or am i better off with a 125? I would rather have a 250 but dont know if i can handle it.

2.Should i get a CR, YZ, KX, or RM. ( I want a CR or YZ)

Thanks for answereing

only weighing 160 lbs, a 250 probably wouldn't be a good stater bike for you. there is a difference in power, but not a huge one....250's have a much more broad powerband. my cr125 can keep up with 250's when it's in the powerband, and it's stock. notice i said keep up, not beat

Yeah in a drag race a 125 can usually hang with a 250 until about 4th gear. On a track it all comes down to rider skill. I ride a CR250 and have been passed by kids on KTM65s.

I'm 6'01" and weigh about 175lbs. A 125 will not cut it for for me on the trail when I'm going through DEEP sand or up a STEEP hill, skinny tire.

When I was 14 I owned a 84 IT490, 2stroke, paid $650 for it. I was 6' and 135lbs then. I'm not tough, or badass or anything. Just know your limits and don't twist the throttle past them.

At your size you'll be content longer on a 250cc. Plus you won't be replacing the top-end every 3 months.

I would go KX 125 but thats me.

KXs are my favorites because low end is more important to fly out of turns on tracks and have all that power down there when hitting jumps coming from slow speed, than the rare occasion of completely touching top end of that of a YZ or a CR.

i think a 250 might be too much for you.

What kind of riding will you be doing? What kind of rider are you? Aggressive? Or just a putt putt?

If you're ballsy, definitely go with the 250. You'll learn how to handle it quickly.

If you are racing I would get the KX125.
BUT
If you are trail riding and ride the track for fun the KDX200 or MAYBE a 250F
(I'd get a get a two stroke.)
