Just for the record and a bit of potential humour (or should that be "humor"), what do you call these tools in your part of the world. I'll kick off for NZ:

1) A "Crescent" - http://commerce.rightsize.com/cgi-b...hreetier=ADJUSTABLE+WRENCHES&twotier=WRENCHES

2) A "ring spanner" - http://commerce.rightsize.com/cgi-b...tier=OFFSET+BOX+END+WRENCHES&twotier=WRENCHES

3) "Allen Keys" - http://commerce.rightsize.com/cgi-b...t?threetier=HEX+KEY+WRENCHES&twotier=WRENCHES

4) "Poly Grips" - http://commerce.rightsize.com/cgi-b...?threetier=GROOVE+JOINT+PLIERS&twotier=PLIERS

You could also say "hex keys" for # 3, but in no way shape or for should # 4 be called pliers. I've heard them called a monkey wrench though.

I got several pairs of dikes in my garage. I have offended some by calling them that, but the dikes themselves don't mind.:thumb:

1. Depends what you need at the time. It's a cresent wrench or a hammer or a tire iron.
2. Offset box wrenches
3. Hex key or allen wrench
4. Channel locks or adjustable wrench if that's all you have

:)

Allen wrench when he's with his dirtbike buddies. He only calls it a hex key when he's sipping chardonay with his high society trials friends. ie "Dear sir, please fetch me my hex key and bring it hither." and it's usually followed by "Why yes my good man and I must say that those tights look ravishing around your cheeks." :thumb:

Hey Clutch, or anybody for that matter;

Would you take pity on me and let me know how you got the image right there in the post? When I click the "insert image" thing; I get a Java script prompt that I don't have a clue what it means. I have done the photo thing before, but now I can't seem to get it to co-operate. Have I simply forgotten how to do it?

Oh, and that is NOT a monkey wrench. A monkey wrench is a whole 'nother thing. I would post a photo, but . . . .

Thanks; Jonny

What is this wrench y'all are talking 'bout? :laugh:

Of course my grandfather, who had no shame or tact, called #1 a Mexican Speed Ranch. ;) It wasn't til I was about 5 years old that I learned that wasn't the correct name. He got me into a lot of trouble now that I think about it.
