I have a 01 yz 250 and will mostly be riding trails but some motocross. I'm having trouble deciding whate type of chain to get. I here 'O' ring will rob horsepower but are very durable. I see D.I.D has 'X' ring, what the that about? Is there a durable yet light chain available?
I ride a CR125 with a RK x-ring chain. I can not tell any power loss. IMO a non o-ring or non x-ring chain is a waste of money. The chains with rings will outlast 3 to 1 an non-ring chain.
From what I understand, a x-ring is just a different shaped o-ring to seal the grease in the pin.
no debate here, buy an o or x ring chain and be done with it! unless you ENJOY the constant cleaning, lubing, tightening, and more frequent replacing of the chain...
Since you have such a powerful motorcycle, you probably would not have to wory about an o-ring taking away power. So either an o-ring or x-ring wouid be perfect.
