32:1 Or 40:1 ratio with any good name brand 2 cycle oil. Buy yourself a ratio rite cup. It will make life much easier.

I have also got a 1999 suzuki rm 125.. and i was wondering that if the previous owner was mixing 20:1 should i stay with that or can I slowly start to lean it out towards 32:1? And what type of oil should i be putting in the crank case? I live in Canada so it never really gets too warm but would 10w40 be heavy enough or should I go heavier?

I'd probably go 15w30 or 15w40.
Make sure it's motorcycle oil otherwise your clutch could slip. I prefer to use bel-ray gear saver oil. It's specifically for motorbike trannies. I use 80weight Bel-Ray my bike.
