I have been told that the 2002 and newer 65's are the ones to get...but why? There is a 99 65sx for sale around here for $1200, and it seems like a clean, well maintained bike that hasn't been ridden much at all. If its just a question of powerband, $100 will pay for a port job...

the suspension is better - hydrolic clutch - I think the motor has less problems as well? Better rider lay out as well - flatter.

The '99's had a weak 3rd/4th gear in the tranny. Forks will bend, weak welds on the shock mount on swingarm, rear drum brake, and just a lack of power compared to the '02's and newer. $1,200 for a '99 seems high. If you search, you can find '02's for $1,500+.
