Beefing up my 98 KDX220. Already put USD forks off a 99 KX250. It has the Gnarly woods pipe. FMF silencer. I just bought the vforce 3 reed cage. I want to get a kdx200 carb. Are all years Ok or should I look for a certain year that will bolt up and work best?

I would go for the bigger carb and then send it to RB!

No difference. If you send either carb to RB, both will end up at 36MM, divider plate, and same mods.

And yes, sending yours to RB will net you a better carb on return than using a stock 200 carb.

desert pipe would work better with the porting on that 220..

Go with the RB Carb and Head mod!!

<a href="http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x40/bikebrain71/?action=view&amp;current=IMG00335-20100807-0750-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x40/bikebrain71/IMG00335-20100807-0750-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I have done almost all of bolt on modifications that are recommended for the KDX 220, and I love the way the bike has turned out. It is still friendly and comfortable, but everything has just been sharpened up. I too used forks off of a KLX300, I then had both the front and rear suspension tuned for my weight and riding level. The Gnarly Desert pipe on the 220 is great. I cannot say enough about the work that Ron Black does to the 220 carburetor. The throttle is super crisp now, and after I played with the air screw to find the " Second Sweet Spot" the bike has no hesitation. I would definitely go with the RB carb mod, and the head mod as well. So far it is all working great for me. BTW: If you choose to go the RB route...drop him an email and tell him about your bike setup, what kind of riding you do, and where you live. He has a very fast turn around, and does great work.

Good Luck!!

KLX Forks

Thanks for the compliment....I love the bike. The KLX forks are a direct fit on the KDX. You will need to use the KLX triple clamps as well. I also switched my brake line to a KLX 300 brake line to work with the stock routing of the KLX Forks. The forks work well, and they look even better

THe KLX forks are probably a step backwards since they dont have rebound adjustment. USDs are stiffer than conventional and well offroad that might not be a good thing.

Best bet is to find a set of older KX forks, front wheel, brake caliper and mount them up with the proper trees since they will have larger internal valving, rebound and compression adjustment.

MotoBK, the KDX looks great. The KLX forks look great on it. Good job! I am sure it suits you well, without a complete front end change and the associated costs.

Do the triple clamps or fork tubes hit the fuel tank?
