What year is my Yamaha PW80

Have a quick question. I purchased a PW80 for my son. Nice Bike! I am guessing it is a 1998 but am not sure. Looking at the serial number stamped on the frame, it is not obvious what the year is. There is also a tag on the frame indicating tire size and some misc. numbers, but again none that really indicate the year. How can I figure out what year this bike is?

You could take a pic of it and take it to a Yamaha shop and they'll probly tell you..

I'm pretty sure the tenth digit in the serial number is the year.

the tenth letter in the vin is the year for instance if the tenth letter is W then it is a 1998 model if that would make V a 1997 model
