what year

hi first time here
i've just been given a yamaha yz 125,,apparrently the piston needs changing.
it does look like it is no good,so what do i do to find out if anything else is broken,thing is i don't wanna buy the piston kit and the engine is knackered any way.the other thing is what year??
there is a number on the front of the frame which looks like a date but swapped around,
hope someone can help

call yamaha with the serial numbers and they should be able to tell you all about that
