It'll be interesting with the new AMA Amateur classes this year.... where the two main big bike classes have changed from 125 & 250 to 250cc & Open.
Before, you could only ride a 125/250F in the one class, and a 250/450F in the other... no bike was legal for both. Plus the 4-strokes had "handicapping" allowing bigger displacements in the same class. But for 2008, you now can ride a 250cc 2-stroke or a 250F in BOTH classes.... and the 250cc 2-stroke packs more HP than the 250F.... and some people seem to find the 2-stroke maintenance easier/less expensive when things go wrong.... so..... well, I guess we'll just wait and see what happens at the Amateur level. I think a few more dusty 250cc 2-strokes are gonna roll off the showroom floor this season...... but I guess they won't be green or red.... so how long will that really last? And will the pro classes eventually follow suit?
