I was doing a little cleaning in the garage and found an old digital scale - you know the bathroom variety. I got to thinking that I could place it on the bike stand and weigh the bike. I stepped on it 1st, and it registered a solid 214 lbs - pretty stinking close to the 213 at the doctors office 2 weeks ago. I think the claim on my 96 Cr500 is 227 according to the manual. So after rigging everything, I put the bike on and weighed it 3 times. I got a solid 235 lbs, dry. No tranny oil (inthe middle of changing it) and I drained the gas tank completely. I do have a Renthal twinwall bar, aluminum throttle tube, FMF Gold Fatty pipe and FMF QII arrester. Other than that, she's stock. Oh yeah, I was cleaning the chain, so it wasn't on the bike (2 lbs or so??).
Next up, I grabbed my gear. With boots, pants, shirt, helmet, gloves, goggles and me - 227 lbs. I grabbed my CamelBak (MULE) with water and tools and did it again - 237. That's close enough to a 1-1 ratio. I'm glad I have a 5-hunny.
What's your ratio?
