I'm planning on finally getting a KTM in July. I just cant decide which one to get. Right now I'm torn between the 2001 250 and 380 exc. I ride mostely woods and occasionally I'll go to a track. I'm 6'1 and 195lbs. Any opinions or suggestions on these bikes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 250 EXC is a great bike--I rode a friend's 2001 and was impressed. Compared to a 00 RM 250 and 00 CR 250 I have ridden, it had waaayyy more bottom end. Definitely has all the torque you could want! And when it does open up, it will pick up the front tire with ease. Especially if you're not expecting it.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I really would like to get the 380, but the only thing holding me back is the fact that I would now be racing in the open class. :silly:

Since I've not ridden either, it would not be a good thing for me to comment.
Unless, of course...you'd like to hear some drivel I've read in a mag. or something I heard while bothering a dealer. :p

The 380 ain't so bad in tight stuff but it will put you in the open class which may or may not be a good thing depending on who's in the 250 classes and who's in the open classes that you will be riding in. Around here the 250 classes are jam packed and few tend to go with the open class. Then on the otherhand KTMs 250 which I have not had a chance to ride is supposed to be one of the better 250s available (duh!;)). I don't think you'll be unhappy either way. Then again there IS the 300 which is awesome and is usually let into the senior 250 classes. Soooo many choices, bottom line you need to pick what will work for you and your situation.
