i just bought eric gorr's book and i was reading about the 1997-2000 YZ125 and it read that the 99 had the best performance but was the most prone to failure. the 00 model has a new exhaust valve and is said to be better. would the 00 cylinder fit on the 97-99's? any feedback would be helpful to me.
thanks man, will i have to use any different base gaskets are anything like that. if i get a 97 or 98 yz125, and use the 2000 cylinder, can i use a fmf sst pipe on it? since fmf doesnt make any sst pipes for the 97 and 98, if my bike is one of those and i use a 00 cylinder, i can run a sst pipe on it correct?
Don't waste your money on the SST pipe I got one last year for my '01 CR and I tell ya this its just a gimmick your better of getting the FATTY if you want a FMF pipe. It's more expensive and I swear its designed to work on some more "popular" models IE CR250 better than on other bikes. Seems in most cases the SST takes away and not add to the powerband. Besides I heard that the FMF Rev pipe with a shorty silencer is the pimpin setup from FMF for the YZ125.
I agree with MXP, but will take it a step further. If you are so good that your bike is holding you back, and you really believe a pipe will make the difference, THEN, get one. Aftermarket pipes don’t make a worthwhile difference. IMHO.
