I have a 2001 RM 250, and I know the part numbers
are different but I was hoping to pick this up since it's an awesome deal... I heard the piston rings etc would work, but how about the gasket set and stuff? Just looking for for advice as I'm on a budget here. :whoa:

Wiseco lists the same piston between 2000 and 2001.
Suzuki lists all different gaskets between 2000 and 2001.
So just the gaskets are different.

Yeah thats what I found on the piston as well, thanks. So either way if it can be had for $40 thats a pretty good deal on an oem piston and rings huh? Only thing I was worried about is the coating on that piston... I guess suzuki started putting some type of coating on their pistons and when I replaced my rings, the piston in there which I believe is OEM was shiny not grey like the one in auction.

$40 is a good deal as long as no one else grabs it at the last minute, that sucks.

As far as piston coatings go a lot of companies have been doing that, I work mainly on high performance cars and coatings were common on the skirts of aftermarket pistons. Then they started doing the tops as well.
Now a lot of vehicles come with coated pistons, even non high performance.

I'm not sure about coated motorcycle pistons, but for the car pistons the skirt clearance was set by honing the bore to the spec on the box, NOT by the traditional method of measuring the skirt, adding clearance specs, and honing it to that number.
The coating also seems to eliminate cold start piston noise.

I've been looking at the Namura coated pistons for the next on in my bike.
